Suggested Group Guidelines
Breakthrough Suggested Prayer Group Guidelines
- Bring your Bibles - declaring and praying Scripture are vital aspects of the prayer hour.
- The FACTS on ACTS Scripture guide (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) is a key resource God has given us to unite, strengthen and encourage powerful prayer. Take the online training course to become familiar with this. The FACTS on ACTS verses are automatically emailed to you three times a year, once you register your group.
- Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your prayers rather than discussing the issues. Keep outside and personal issues to a minimum unless they are your focus of prayer.
- Be sensitive to hold in confidence the prayers and concerns shared in your group which helps to build respect, integrity and trust.
- All group members should be trained to faciliate the group so the prayer times can continue even in the absence, or relocation of the facilitator, or contact person.
- Contract with your group where you will meet. When possible and where permission is given, pray on-site, respecting the trust you have been given and being sensitive not to overstep any boundaries.
- Do not engage in lobbying, protesting or pressuring in social or political causes regardless of the worthy cause. If any group member has any concerns they are to approach the issue as an individual and not under the name or on the behalf of Breakthrough..
- As an interdenominational and international prayer group the approaches to prayer will vary. Let love, grace and truth guide your time. Our purpose is to pray in agreement and be unified by the Spirit.
- Remember your call and commitment to prayer will be tested and distracted! Disunity is one of the arrows the enemy hurls. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:3
